As long as people respect the terms of the license agreement, I am in favor of Creative Commons licenses. I think it promotes creativity and innovation to share work made available through such a license. Some of the license types under Creative Commons prohibit making derivatives and/or the work is only available for non-commercial use. This makes the work available to the public, but also provides the creator with protection against the work being commercially exploited or altered.
This is an interesting article I found about Creative Commons and my country, Norway. The Creative Commons licenses were in June 2008 adapted to be in accordance with Norwegian Copyright Law. From the article: “Norway is the forty-sixth jurisdiction worldwide to port the Creative Commons licensing suite.”
